Max 06.06.11 - 17.06.11

Last week, we realised that Max wasn't very well, he was sleeping a lot and having trouble with his breathing. When the vet scanned his chest, we discovered that Max had fluid in his chest. Max was referred to the Weipers Centre (equine hospital) in Glasgow, where they tried to drain the fluid in his chest, but shortly after this, his heart started failing. Very sadly, Max had to get put to sleep. We are all devastated with the news, but we are glad that we got to know Max, even if it was for such a short time. He was such a kind, affectionate little horse and he will be greatly missed.

Wee Gus Update

Many of you have been asking how Wee Gus is getting on, so here is an update:

Wee Gus was becoming very bored in the riding school and it was making him quite unhappy. We wanted to let him have a break from the riding school and he has got on so well in his new home that he is going to stay there.

Here is a letter from his new owners:

Hi Emma

Here are a few pics of Gus with Polly....enjoying the beautiful view across
Loch Kishorn and out to Skye.....we'll keep you updated and will send you
some more pics.

Thank you for letting us buy him - he's a v. precious pony and we'll take
good care of him!

Best wishes
Diana

Rowallan

Rory and I have just spent another few days at Rowallan Activity Centre in Ayr-shire. www.rowallanac.co.uk

On Sunday we helped with the running of a British Showjumping competition, to see how an affiliated show is run. We are hoping to start doing BS shows at Chapelton.

The day began by working alongside the course designer and helping build the jumps. We then spent most of the morning in the office, taking entries, then in the afternoon we were in the judges box. It's fascinating what a rider can learn by sitting in the judges box and listening to what goes on.

On Monday and Tuesday we were doing UKCC 2 coaching.

On Wednesday we were at Ron Brady's yard collecting some more ponies! While we were there we saw some of Roxy's brothers and sisters. Here are some pics:

It's a really friendly place with amazing facilities and a lovely bar and restaurant too!
We are looking forward to going back next month to take part in a BS competition as well as doing some more coaching.
